Synopsis:
An outspoken 19th-century maid provokes conflicting emotions within a household of eccentrics. Her deepest desire is a wealthy marriage, but she attracts the interest of a valet, who murders his wealthy employer to win her heart. Directed by Jean Renoior, and remade in 1964 by Bunuel. Based on Octave Mirbeau's novel "A Chambermaid's Diary" and the play by Andre Heuse, Andre de Lorde, and Thielly Nores.
