Synopsis:

In the heart of Depression-Era New York City, a wealthy young man inherits a dilapidated city block. He meets a man crippled by a fire in one the buildings, and falls in love with his sister. A timely social commentary of the era contrasting tenement dwellers and people of the upper class. Based on Arthur Arent's play "One Third of a Nation."
